MY RATING: 10.00

Cohen Brothers movies – Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, The Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother Where Art Thou.
I also like anything science fiction, my all time favorite – The Fifth Element.
Oldies but Goodies – The Graduate, Network, Dr. Strangelove
Chick Flicks – Steel Magnolias
Others: Good Fellas, Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Fight Club
TV Shows – Lost, Heroes & The Daily Show

Jewelry - Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets, Anklets, Polymer Clay Beads & Pens
I also do other crafts: paint, crochet, sewing, soapmaking, plastercraft, a little mosaic. I'm not afraid of trying new things when it comes to crafting.

Tom Wolfe – Bonfire of the Vanities, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Mauve Gloves & Madmen
Kurt Vonnegut – Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse-Five, Welcome to the Monkey House
Ray Bradbury – I Sing the Body Electric, The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit-451

My tastes are pretty eclectic (rock, classic R&B, etc.). I lean towards Rock and Alternative ranging from the 1960s to the present. I also like the old standards and crooners such as Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, and Ella Fitzgerald. My favorite all time band would have to be the Beatles.

Everything You Need to Know, Polymer Clay Mainstay

I'm a busy working mom with 2 girls in 2nd grade and middle school. I wish I had more time to bead, however, many people have told me that I have a talent and I should sell my jewelry. Last time I sold jewelry was at local craft fairs, before I had kids, and before the internet was "common-place". That's how long it's been.
I work in the Engineering dept of a large company in San Diego. I'm glad to have a job in this economy, and the Engineers I work with are generally a bunch of friendly "easy-going geeks". However, the majority of them are not of the "artistically inclined" type. I need to be around more creative people or else my brain will start to stagnate.

Crafting, Baking, Coffee, Pedicures, Guitar Hero, Halloween, New England in the Fall, Rain, Pleasant smells (I love to go into Bath & Body Works to smell everything and waste money), web surfing, playing with my cats

Other than the fact that I have to wear reading glasses when I bead, craft, crochet, work on the computer, etc…, I don’t like hot weather, traffic, rude people, reality TV shows, corrupt politicians, bloviating pundits, and social injustice.

Love your music, your work is pretty awesome, too!  Perhaps we should have a chat and meet at Michaels or near there.  It is hard to make connections with other beaders... local ones are to be cherished.  Perhaps we could decend upon one of the bead shops and take over a table or something.  General Bead has the children's area.  The 'new' (to me) one I found by Sports Arena has a teaching area...

Nice to make your 'imaginary' acquaintance!

I'm not sure how to respond to a comment like you did..lol..can you tell I'm new??

I'm a plastics Engineer actually...few of us out there, but now there's one less in the field..lol.  I HATED it!  It was a man's world and I was that project manager you were speaking of, but can tell you they have great reasons to be uptight and crazy sometimes, all the pressure of the launch of products and production of products is on their shoulders without any of the authority to get it done...so if the lab doesn't feel like doing your project that day...oh well, nothing you can do about it...gosh, I hated that job..lol.  But, I do think like an Engineer, left brained all the way!  I enjoy the artisic abilities of others...because alas I didn't get any of that...I even had a friend tell me that our booth set up for shows looked like an Engineer designed it (she didn't know my background)  ...so had to seek help with that!!

Best of luck to you in the Engineering envoironment!!  ...don't let 'em take ya down..if its anything like MI, the men are horrible to the women, I think I spent most of my time trying to prove to them I could do my job!

Hey,

I just wanted to write to another Engineer on a beading site and soooo agree with you, most are not that artsy :)  I'm actually one that isn't but I try reeeaally hard..lol!  Many of my Engineering buds cannot believe that I quit Engineering to sell.."what..what was that..beads?!?!"  lmao...but its great and you do use Engineering in it alot, people just don't realize it!

Well, thought I'd say hello and let you know I got a chuckle out of your about me area :)

Hi,

You have very lovely jewelry.  You should try South Sun Beads.  I go on line and buy from Fire Mountain Beads also.  But the business of South Sun Beads is a gigantic warehouse with everthing you need and then some.  I'm just now beginning my classes there.

i have to laugh a bit about you and engineers.  here's what a couple math professors have done in beading.

i just got two of their patterns and they are fantastic.  your engineer's could have a lot of fun with peyote stitch and brick stitch.  have a good weekend.
