"The Notebook", "A Walk to Remember", "Message in a Bottle"...can you tell I am a Nicholas Sparks fan?
I also loved "A Beautiful Mind" and "Seabiscuit".

As you can see, I have very eclectic taste...from silly comedies to a tear-jerker with chic-flicks thrown in for good measure!

Homemade cards, crocheted items, x-stitch work.

As of this month, June '09, I am just getting started with beads.

Actually, I don't think practicing with ex-large plastic pony beads and yarn to learn some of the basic beading stitches counts as beading, but I have to start somewhere!

Stay tuned! I hope to change this part of my comments.

"The Notebook", "A Walk to Remember", "Message in a Bottle"...can you tell I am a Nicholas Sparks fan?
Also love Nora Roberts and Fern Michaels books when I feel like retreating into the fantasy world of love that at my age I know is too good to be true. Just enjoy being entertained by them.

Country, Oldies, Jazz, Blues and Rock n Roll!

Can't carry a tune and have no rhythm, but doesn't stop me from trying!

Don't have any yet, but I am sure I will be changing this very soon.

Hard for me to describe me...guess my friends would be the ones to do that.

I am a retired bookkeeper. I love animals! Live by myself, so I have complate control of the TV remote and I eat what I want, when I want! :)

Not dating at the moment, but that's ok...I enjoy spending time with friends and acquaintances.

Doing anything with my hands and brain! Making something even if I end up throwing it in the garbage. Learning something new!

Especially love my boys: (Jackson (the Yorkie and Bailey (the Chi), and of course, last but not least, my wonderful 30-yr old son, Micah and his beautiful wife, Laura!

I also like watching the dust grow on my coffee table and the cob webs take over the corners of my ceiling while I am busy doing something fun!

Finally at the stage in my life where I don't sweat the small stuff!

Asparagus, califlower, brussel sprouts and liver!

Don't have any yet, but I am sure I will be changing this very soon.

I am working on my 2nd hummingbird. I am still finding it hard to do.  Maybe with the 3rd one it will get easier.  lol

Hope all is well with you!

You're very welcome and thank you for agreeing to bead my friend!

Figuring out what you want to do is the hardest part.  Once you get that in line, the rest will be a breeze :)

Thank you Keya for the warm welcome!  I look forward to learning so much from everyone here at beadspace.come and getting to know all the people here who bead.  I am new to beading.  I purchased a book called "The Beaded Garden" about a month ago and some ex-large plastic seed and pony beads from Hobby Lobby to practice the basic beading stitches before buying a lot of things I may not need.  Today I received a book that teachs French beading (beading on wire), so now I don't know which direction to go in...  I can tell this is going to be fun once I figure out what I want to do!

Sincerely,

Viki

Thank you for the warm welcome!  My name is Viki and I live in Birmingham, AL.  I haven't beaded anything yet.  Still learning as much as possible before investing...

Love the Harley stuff..my Harley cap is sitting in the back of the car!  I love to ride, but don't get a chance anymore. :(

Your Angel pin is great!  So is the bag you made using the square stitch.  That is something I will have to try and find directions for learning that stitch.

I am hoping to learn the different stitches to make beaded flowers with seed beads.  I purchased "The Beaded Garden" by Diane Fitzgerald from Amazon.com and have been comparing prices, etc. ever since.  So far Bello Modo has everyone beat on the Miyuki line of beads.

Actually, I did purchase some large plastic pony beads and seed beads  from Hobby Lobby...really large)...figured I could practice with those until I become familar with stiches such as the brick stitch, the square stitch and the peyote and then place an order for the real thing.  Thanks again for inviting me to be your friend!

Sincerely,

Viki

Actually, you are learning the best way possible by using larger beads to really see how things go together.  You can do a www.google.com search and type in the type of beadweaving stitch you would like to learn -- that's how I learned.  My email address is michel@mutternet.com and you can email me anytime!  hugs, Michel  PS--my favorite bead stitch is doing square stitch

Hi Viki,

Your welcome, I just got back from a Gravely Tractor Mow-In with hubby and was so happy to be in the sun for 3 days ( Jersey has had nothing but rain all month)

I am in love with the square stitch that I just learned in March of this year and I don't mind the brick stitch, Peyote not so good ( have trouble with it ) Check out my Gallery to see my work. I have only been beading for a little over a year and only did stringing when I started but now I am happy to say that I am a beadweaver ( and an addict at that, I can even bead in the truck when we go away on day trips, I am that addicted )

I am new to beading (other than adding beads to x-stitch pieces I did years ago.  I purchased a book called "The Beaded Garden" by Diane Fitzgerald and I am dying to try my hand at making some of the beautiful flowers.  Nothing like jumping off into the deep end...seems to be a pattern with me, but at least I won't get bored.  At the moment I am practicing the brick stitch and peyote stitch with some rather large plastic pony beads I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  I figured I would start large and learn the stitching, then move on to using real beads.  I am also interested in French beading, but need to take things one at a time.  Don't have a book for that yet!

What type of beading do you prefer?

I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from the members of beadspace and in the future have something to share.

Hope your weekend is a good one.

Now on to practice...lol
