MY RATING: 10.00

Free-form sculptural beadwear using LACY'S Stiff Stuff as beading foundation and platform. Most of my pieces are actually better understood as personal wearable art installations, loosely based in science or nature, varying widely in size: you can hang it or wear it or make cautious and judicious turns with proper use of warning signals in elevators or congested areas. I can't make the same thing twice (which explains my cooking as well--but it looks better in beads)

the original Godzillas, Popeye, City of Lost Children, Amelie, Au Revoir les Enfants, Fitzcarraldo (don't ask), VanHelsing (the greatest costumes/jewelry in cinematic history--filmed in the heart of Czech Republic where all those gorgeous beads are made!)(I'd have sold my soul to work on that set:),

June Tabor, Salif Keita, June Tabor and the Oyster Band, Ami Flammer, Huw Warren, Silly Sisters, Te Vaka,

always--currently rereading all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books (some of them for the 20th time),Dortmunder series by Donald E. Westlake; otherwise non-fiction in any other field than my own

Happy Jack's Trading Post, Roswell, NM: home of Lacy's Stiff Stuff!!!

Everything You Need to Know, cat loving beaders

Intra and extra solar systems, the Oort cloud, nebulae, fault zones, deep space, deep sea, seismolgy, geology, ontogeny, orogeny, phyllogeny, the Burgess Shales, theoretical physics, geography of Mars, plate tectonics, foraminifera, computer innards, eclectronica...at the moment
and BEADS!

Impatience, obliviousness, not-paying attention-ness, short or ill-tempers, all of which I am guilty of but try to not have/do/be

and lima beans

and mushy peas

About me is high, dry New Mexico: the ghosts of the Permian Sea, dino bones, recent volcanic activity (give or take a few thousand years or so), the remains of towns that sprang up to feed the gold and silver miners, the rime laid down in a local gulch that indicates abnormal geophysics involving heat currently impossibly high, just outside here in Roswell, downtown street lights with goofy alien eyes--
what's about you?

Frieda Bates--just google her, ditto Marcus Ammerman; www.lacysstiffstuff.com, Clay Factory,
Prairie Arts, NASA, Mars mission sites, USGS,

Only my friends can see my activity feed.

Just wanted to say hi, it is Saturday night and many (many) moons ago I'd be out, clubbing, dancing with girlfriends till 2 in the morning, but now I will go take a shower and quietly bead with my animals all around me.  It's amazing how rich life becomes as one grows older.  I hope you are having a nice night.

Hi, Mona--thanks for the kind response! It is a bit of a drive from Iowa:) but I'll put some of the workshop on as a tutorial if anybody wants it. I'm sorry you haven't been back to Magdalena in a while. Maybe next time you can come, you can drop on down here, too. At least you know where the best beadstore is:)

My spirit place is Carlsbad Caverns--(that's what inspired the piece on the model in the picture of the invitation)--I used to go down at least once a year for a "New Mexico" blessing: deep in the caverns, fresh water and seeps from the rain pool, and if you are lucky, you can find a spot to get a drop on the top of your head. Water is so precious here, and that little "plunk" from the ceiling of the cave refreshes your soul...or, well, at least mine!:) Anyway, thanks for the kind response, and next time you come out this way, give me a yell. All the best, cheers,

cynthia

What a warm response, however that is what I have experienced in New Mexico evertime I have been there.  I will definetly look up to get the blessing and the store when I come next. Good luck on the event.

Hey, Michel! I'm sorry, it is sort of short notice for Ohio--but I don't really know where everybody lives, so I put it out there just in case:) And the next time you wander back out here, you'll know where to find the best little beadstore in SE NM--give me a yell, I'll meetcha there:) hugs and all the best

cynthia

and I just guessing that you probably know some very good places to eat at? hugs, Michel
