What I'm doing right now: I'm working on posting new items to my Etsy shop - mommysmoon - got a lot of items to post in the next few days.

I make things with beads...jewelry of all kinds. I don't have a lot of time so most of my projects are quick & easy - heavy on earrings! I like to make things that reflect my spirituality & other things that interest me. I like to bead knit & am considering bead crochet - just haven't found the time! Check out my Etsy shop. mommysmoon@etsy.com

Give ma a good fantasy...or an Indiana Jones...or a vampire flick or something with Johnny Depp or old pirate movies(Errol Flynn)...I don't go to just any old movie but a good fantasy is my favorite.

Lord of the Rings was a dream of a lifetime!

Anything but Country....

Fantasy Novels, Anne Rice books, Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, CS Lewis, Tolkein, Charles deLint....

The one that popped into my head right now is THE MIRROR by Marlys Milhouser. (maybe Milhiser) It's a book about time travel. It Rocks!

I like the local bead shops in the area & any bead show I can get to!

I like people who have open minds, kind hearts and who accept others - no matter how different.

I also like people who like my cats - go figure!

I treasure being alone - mainly because I am rarely. It's a treat!

I like going out in the woods, where it's peaceful!

I dislike people who lie, steal, cheat or those who hurt my friends. Don't get me wrong, I am patient with other faults and it takes a lot to get me past the point of no return- but it has happened.

I hate broccoli - cooked. I'll eat it raw, but don't cook it.

I am a witch and a pagan. It shows in my crafts because I make what I feel an affinity for. I love to get out in the woods & often get my inspirations there.

I live in a colony of Siamese Cats - affectionately referred to as the Meeser Mafia.

Only my friends can see my activity feed.

Wow, I'd love to see a tortie point manx, I bet she is beautiful!

'zilla thinks my hubby is his lap of choice and Allie likes mine.  Allie usually asks before jumping up on me, but not always. ;->

My furbabies have many names too... 'zilla gets called "shredder, monster, whimp (when he doesn't feel good)" among other names as he earns them :)  Allie's main nick is BooBoo or BooBooButt or BoodleButt... she never seems to mind tho.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

I love siamese, especially the apple-head variety.  I've had at least one cat since I was 6, usually more than one... they're like potato chips, you can't have just one ;->

I understand what you mean regarding spending on your cats, I've done my share and then some! Giz was my most expensive cat before 'zilla, he became diabetic and had to have insulin shots twice a day... his diabetes never became under control, but it was renal failure that did him in.  Giz lived with us for 21 years before he passed about 4 years ago and I still miss him terribly.

At that same time we had Biff and CJ.  CJ was a beautiful seal point apple-head, but she developed breast cancer and became so sick she had to be hospitalized.  Even with the help of antibiotics, subdural hydration and heat, she passed after one night in the hospital.  Our vet, Dr. Mike, spays and neuter stray cats that a local company traps and then releases them.  Dr. Mike tries to find homes for the kitten strays, and he offered 'zilla to us shortly afterward.  We still had Biff, who was Giz's grandson, and he passed from chronic renal failure about a year after that.

Since 'zilla was a stray, I'm not totally sure if he is a true meeser.  He acts a lot like a siamese, but somewhat different.  I have researched his behaviours and have determined that he is more of a Tonkenese than Siamese.  He is, usually, so full of mischief that after Biff passed we felt we had to get 'zilla a "friend" to help keep some of his activity level channeled.  'zilla literally "bounces" off the walls and talk about strong, wow... this cat has a lot of muscle on him, and he knows how to use it!  We went to our animal shelter and visited the kittens and other homeless cats.  I had my eye on a cute little blue-eyed meeser, but he was so small that I didn't think he could hold his own next to 'zilla.  While I was sitting next to the kitten cage trying to get the little siamese's attention, this little calico snuck up behind me and put her paw through the bars and tapped me on the knee.  It was like she was saying, "hey, what you lookin' at, I'm over here!"  I asked to hold her and she just cuddled up in my lap before bounding off and running around the room.  She stole our hearts!  Alley slept in my arms, on her back, all the way home... a good two hour ride :)  As soon as she entered the house, she owned it.  Alley didn't take any gruff from 'zilla either.  Even tho she was a tiny bit of a kitten, barely half 'zilla's size, she had us and 'zilla wrapped around her little paw in no time.

'zilla has always had gingivitus, but Dr. Mike was amazed at the fact that 'zilla had little to no plaque buildup.  His mouth kept bothering him and Dr. Mike suggested antibiotics and that eventually he would need a series of steroid shots.  The antibiotics seemed to help a bit, but trying to "pill" 'zilla was no small feat! 'zilla has allergies and had been sneezing a lot when he started yelping and running away from his food bowl.  It got so bad that Dr. Mike said it was time for the steroid shots.  We took 'zilla in for his first shot and shortly afterward he came down with a terrible cold.  His eye became infected and his sinus' became so full of mucus that his breathing got so bad that I thought we'd loose him.  Dr. Mike gave 'zilla more antibiotics, liquid this time, and since he was so sick, it was easy to give him the medicine and eye gel.  After he had finished the first bottle of antibiotics he didn't get much better so we had to start him on a second bottle, then a third.  'zilla started feeling a bit better, and giving him the medication became impossible, so that was tabled, but by then he was practically over his infections.  Dr. Mike was surprised that 'zilla got so sick, and told us that the steroid shots can sometimes do that.  So giving 'zilla any more of the steroids was not an option.  The next step was to have all 'zilla's teeth pulled.  Dr. Mike said this is the last chance and it usually works for this kind of gum disease.  This option was way more than we could afford, since the nearest animal hospital that could do the procedure best was over 500 miles away.  Dr. Mike agreed to try pulling as many of 'zilla's teeth as he could safely do under one anesthesia.  The cost would be high, but not as prohibitive as driving 1000 miles, round trip, when gas was practically $5 a gallon!  So, last week, 'zilla went in for his dentistry and he is doing somewhat better now.  He still has some mouth issues, but I can't afford another $400+ to get the rest of his teeth pulled.  If our business ever starts making profits maybe we can finish taking care of his mouth issues, but not right now.

I give my cats fancy "show" type names.  'zilla is short for Lord Chai-Lai Catzilla; Lord for his mighty strength and attitude, Chai-Lai for his color and Catzilla because he's such a monster :)  Allie was the name the shelter gave her, but because of the "royal" way she took over when she first walked in our door, she became Queen Allie Zap Tortico.  This little bit of a cat literally zaps through the house and is such a sweetheart.  The Tortico part is because of her coat.  Her top fur is a short, very course and soft tortoise shell, but a long hair, mostly white, calico on her belly and as I stated before, she loves to lay on her back with her little "pink under all that long white fur" belly-up.

Two totally different catitudes, but they get along extremely well.  It's always a toss up on who is the alpha cat!

Well, I guess I've rambled on about my gang longer than I had anticipated.  I hope you'll post some of Lotus' next litter's pictures when they're born.  I just love kittens.  I'd have a million cats, if my wallet and space could afford them!

Take care,
Keya

P.S.  I will post some pix of my furbabies in my gallery soon.
