What I'm doing right now: Checking in.... Looking at the Gallery. Wonderful things happening there!

I'm in the learning process here--a real neophyte amongst experts.

Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, sun catchers, bookmarks, keyrings, glasses keepers, angels... "Whatsits"... I love playing with the beads. Someday I might actually make something worth posting!

I used to do a lot of sewing--theatre costumes. A lot of what I did was like creating jewelry, and sometimes I actually did some jewelry to go with the costumes. I haven't done the costuming in a while. It was fun, but took lots of time and huge amounts of energy. I hsve sort of gotten used to having "free time" and don't really want to give it up again.

Anything that makes me think. I do not like movies that gear themselves to the least common denominator or to those in the audience with the IQ of a kholrabi... Please preserve me from mindless fluff, slasher flicks, blood and guts, and too much beyond-belief sci-fi (although I do like some sci-fi if it is plausible). I'll take a good classic any day. Good adaptations of novels or plays are also a favorite.

I love music in general, but the more "singable" the better because I like to sing along. I can handle classical to "alternative" (whatever that is...) but can't quite wrap my mind around rap--yet.

I prefer the 60's up to the 80's, but also love the standards, musicals, and any kind of Christmas music. Thank God for Sirius Sattelite Radio!!

My reading tastes are about as broad as my musical ones. I can fall into a good novel quite easily, but even enjoy an occasional "trashy romance", too. I love a good crime or mystery novel, be it Agatha Christi or John Grisham, John Sandford, Lisa Scotolini, JD Robb, or Patricia Cornwell.

Whatever, wherever...

Sometimes the most interesting beads I've found have come from some very unlikely places. But I don't/won't pass up a craft store or section of an "all in one" store just because it's there...

Everything You Need to Know, Polymer Clay Mainstay, Dog Loving Beaders

Simple things... I don't "do" complicated or fussy. I like jeans and tee shirts and tennis shoes. I am not a girly-girl, and even though I make jewelry, I don't wear a lot except for earrings, a watch, and a couple of bracelets that I wove together to keep them from getting tangled up. When I do dress up, the jewelry has to be simple but striking.

I like people who are up front, real, and honest. I don't go in for deep political discussions, but don't mind discussing THINKING in any direction.

I don't have time for intolerance... People are people, they are who and what they are. Personal choices are personal and to be respected. Live and let live.

Not being able to see what I'm doing with my bifocals. I have to take the @$#%*&%$#@ glasses off to crimp or thread or do anything that requires closeup vision...and a maginfying glass doesn't help! It's hard to get OLD.

Dropping things on the floor and having to wrestle the dog(s) to get them back. Basset drool is particularly gluey and hard to get off of things.

People who whine and/or complain all the time make me very tired.
People who mistreat or abuse animals (or other people) in any way make me absolutely crazy...there should be a special place in Hell just for them.

I am a former teacher, currently "between engagements"--careers... I taught in alternative schools (high school level) for about 15 years, but when it stopped being fun and I dreaded going to work it was time to do something else. I just haven't found the "something else" yet. I miss the kids and their energy, I miss the colleagues, but I don't miss the hoop-jumping and paperwork that goes along with being a teacher. I'd love to find something that I can do that would relate back to education, but those jobs aren't jumping out at me. So, I'm looking--and keeping myself busy doing some beading and other stuff in the meantime.

I live with Mom, four rescued Basset Hounds, two opinionated Amazon parrots, a couple of happy-go-lucky guppies, and an assortment of wildlife in the back yard here in the beautiful Hill Country of Central Texas.

Just type in "Beads", "Beading" or similar term in Google....... I have that bookmarked because I haven't had time to visit all bazillion of them yet! And I've added new ones to the list since I've been on Bead-Space! Thank you, my friends, for pointing me in different directions!

Hi--

Thanks for the friend request!  I look forward to getting to know  you here and seeing your work.   This is a great place to be a beginner because there are all of these wonderful "experts" around here to learn from, and they are very friendly and helpful.  I learn a lot just wandering through the galleries.  I also get a lot of great idea-sparkers!

Have fun here!  It's a great community.

Happy Beading!

Thanks!  I will!

Hi Lisa - it snowed here last night - we're now in 2nd place for the winter with the most snow in Dayton, OH -- Sparky is doing great!  He probably weighs about 48 pounds now.  He does like getting his treats.  We just celebrated our 26th year wedding anniversary.  We had a nice walk down memory lane.  Sparky is our fifth dog - 2nd boy dog and he's a keeper!  You'll work again on your UFO (unfinished object) -- always nice to hear from you about Texas -- have a good day!  hugs, Michel

Hi Lisa - thanks for your kind comments about the recent beadwork I've posted.  The Wing Heart (Puffy Heart) is a bracelet but would make a nice necklace.  Hope your winter is getting warmer these days.  hugs,  Michel

Thats great that you had a chance to see southeast. I went to high school in Juneau, my brother is still there. Your right about the rain and darkness, but the joys are many too! http://livingbeadwork.blogspot.com/   is my blog where you can see some pics of the homer area!  Nice to meet you, Kate

Hi Lisa - the bead cpllar was done in netting - I didn't make it - I just admire it.    As for the RAW bracelet:  although it looks blue in the photo, it is actually purple.  hugs, Michel

I don't but that sounds like a really cute idea.  I'll give it a shot.  Linda

It's an 8 in one pattern and then you just use beading wire to add the pearls.

Thanks so much for visiting my pictures and the kind comments. Chain maille is pretty easy and there's lots of instruction online. Give a yell if you need help.
